The Life of a Cbeebies Mum Part 1

FotorCreated

I am sure I am not the only one who walks round all day everyday humming a tune from a television series that our little ones are obsessed with…..

In our case, this house revolves around Cbeebies.

I would go as far as to say if it doesn’t happen on Cbeebies then I would struggle to talk to you about anything….well that is if I didn’t have my phone and Social Media to keep me up to date.

Particular favourites are of course Mr Tumble, Bing, Twirlywoos and last but most importantly Mr Bloom and his Veggies.

So when we were in Durham last week and saw that Mr Bloom would be attending Prince Bishops Shopping Centre on Wednesday the 10th of August, it was of course a MUST that we attend.

I have not heard the end of the promise since mentioning it, and when the sleeps countdown kicked in, it was clear I had an excited six year old and also a very hyper two year old. Would love to say Mark and Regan were as keen as us but they were a tad more interested in where they could escape too while we were watching Mr Bloom.

Getting the pair of them to sleep last night was a nightmare.

The 5.30am wake up call this morning was “Maaaaammmmmm Mr Boom”, with an outburst of Penny’s version of “Meet the Veggies”.

We got up and got dressed and after Libby asking for what must have been the 50thΒ  time if we could go yet, we set off.

I like to get to these things in plenty of time as I find it ends up being a rugby scrum and I like to get a good view as well as a good position for the kids.

Libby made her way to the “Tiddler Moshpit” and sat right at the front, much to her excitement. Penny wasn’t as keen, so stayed glued to my hip.

We stood next to the security team from Prince Bishops, they were really good, keeping the entrance for Mr Bloom clear and it also gave me an insight as which way to send Mark with his camera. (Would have sent Regan too but as predicted he was Pokemon hunting)

Penny made a break from me with about five mins to spare and sat at the front with Libby but the minute a little boy behind her started hitting her on the back she decided she had enough and came back to find me.

Then came the news Mr Bloom was making his way down…….

Ben Faulks aka Mr Bloom, introduced him to a good couple of hundred Tiddler’s and Tiddler Mums, Dads and Grandparents.

Giving his adoring audience (and that’s just the Mums) a wave.

By this point Penny had gone super shy and cuddled right in to me but Libby was enjoying herself singing and clapping along.

What a fantastic entertainer this man really is. He had the kids singing and clapping and the majority of the adults too.

Penny started to calm down and joined in when Mr Bloom was asking the audience what kind of vegetables he had grown.

mrbloom9

He moved on and got some big balloons out and asked the kids to compare them to fruit and vegetables. The audience were loving it as the balloons made the way around the crowd and then back to Mr Bloom again.

Mr Bloom made and apology that The Veggies had not made it with him but he played a game of “Guess the Veggie” with Colin the Runnerbean, Joan the Fennel, Raymond the Butternut Squash, Margaret the Cabbage, Sebastian the Aubergine and The Wee McGregor Radishes all got a mention and that was The Tiddlers happy. He topped this section off by getting everyone singing along to Meet the Veggies.

In the next section the crowd were introduced to Mr Bloom’s special Veggie Nursery friends.

First up was Baby David the Marrow……..(Ingenious idea to put googly eyes, a dummy and a nappy style wrap on fruit and veg, kids were all taken in by it)

The Tiddlers were asked to put their hands up if they had had any experience of babysitting as he needed some Vegetable Nannies.

Libby put her hand up and to her delight Mr Bloom came over and spoke to her. Asking her name, what experience she had and how much she charged per hour.

mrbloom25

She was picked to cradle Baby David,

Next up was the Baby Banana Bunch, they had been flown in from South America, they were named Maradona, Pele and Nigel.

Then there was the very shy Cauliflower, who’s name escapes me at this moment in time, with Cindy the Pineapple being last up. Her Nannie was asked to discuss hairstyles with her as she was off for a haircut tomorrow.

mrbloom27

As the close drew near Mr Bloom asked the audience to join in with the goodbye song with him to send the Veggie Nursery to sleep. He had The Tiddlers pretend to go asleep to. Once the veggies were asleep everyone had a good sing and dance with a lot of wiggling before Mr Bloom said his goodbyes.

The girls had an amazing time. Their faces were a picture and Libby has been on a high all day. What a fantastic free event. In this day and age free things can be hard to find and for Prince Bishops and Durham to put this on for the tiny cost of Β£2.10 for parking you really can not argue.

Upper most compliments to Ben Faulks and his team also. I have done quite a bit of reading about Ben, his wife Mimi and Plunge Boom, their company. What they do is truly genious. I urge you to to have a look at the links that are attached to this blog post as it is worth watching for the next event coming to a venue near you soon.

Until the next time
