2016 Done!

The reason I started my blogging journey was to share our health journey with you. In doing so I hoped that I could help just one person. The response has been amazing.

As time has gone on, I have found that I really enjoy writing about all sorts of everything. The opportunities I have been offered have been amazing and I can only hope that 2017 brings more and that I can put my heart and soul in to everything that I write. (More so than I already have).

One thing I especially enjoy writing about is what we have been up to and our adventures, and as it happens the end of 2016 we were very busy.

As well as the stories of Decemeber I have already told (Baby No More, Our Beamish Adventure…Part Two and Wedding Anniversary), we had a few more adventures I would like to share.

Erivedge…The Update….

I started out writing a diary of my journey, but after a week I really didn’t have much to tell, and decided that what I did have to tell would be better said in a post for you, when I first month was over.

If you are unfamiliar with my journey you can read more in the Too Erivedge or Not Post.

Erivedge or Vismodgib is a strong drug that alters the way in which cells divide, slowing down the growth or curing Basal Cell Carcinoma (until you stop taking the medication.)

After much consideration and consultation I decided to go ahead with the medication and tackle whatever side effects it may bring.

SPA and Fusion @Ramside Hall

We all love a good pamper session and what better place to do that then in a very special hotel like Ramside Hall Hotel.

Up until a couple of weeks ago I had never visited the Hotel. I had driven past it more times than I care to remember, but it was lovely to get an insight in to what goes on beyond the entrance on the A690.

Very excited to see what was on offer I was blown away when I pulled in. Such a large hotel complex and so many things to do.

The entrance to the Spa/Fusion is gorgeous and was all decorated ready for Christmas with Polar Bears and a Snow Theme running throughout.

The team were very attentive and we were given a talk and a guided tour from Jasmine the Membership Coordinator. As well as some lovely welcome drinks ….

The one thing that stood out for me from the chat we had was that Ramside Hall were the first Hotel in the country to offer treatments that are aimed specifically at Cancer patients. I really wanted to know more about this and asked Jasmine if she could go in to more detail and this is what I found out….

Ashleigh Lamb The Senior Therapist explained…..

Upon working for Ramside, I have taken part in extensive training here at the spa, one of my courses being Wellness for Cancer. Our Wellness treatments are all tailored made to our guests by how they are feeling and the results they would like to achieve. The training involved passing numerous case studies before gaining a certificate, so our highly trained therapists are sure to personalise the perfect treatment for you.

The training consisted of completing online modules, each one lasted around 45minutes. We then watched clips from doctors and the Director of Wellness for Cancer to help us complete our online exams. The director, Julie Batch then came to the Spa and took us through a two day practical training course. We carried interactive practical activities to learn specialised massage techniques and how to incorporate them into our ESPA Massage and Facial treatments.” Continue reading
